Herne
Bay,
Kent
Many
fantastic aerials views of Kent may be enjoyed
from hot air balloon flights over Britian's
most south-easterly county.
Herne
Bay is seaside town on the north coast of
Kent. It is approximately halfway between
Whitstable
(to the east) and Margate
(to the west). Herne Bay has a long and
interesting history, having been recorded
as early as 1100 (as “Hyman”)
and enjoyed a heyday as a seaside resort
in the late 19th Century. Sadly Herne Bay’s
pier was badly damaged by a storm in 1978,
leaving the end of the pier visible but
isolated, and yet to be restored.
Suburbs of Herne Bay and villages in its
vicinity include Reculver, Hillborough,
Bishopstone, Beltinge, Eddington, Broomfield,
Herne, Greenhill, Swalecliffe and Hampton.
