Carnforth,
Lancashire
There's
lots to see and do in Lancashire. A hot

The
small town of Carnforth is situated north
of the city of Lancaster and across marshland
about 10 miles to the east of Morcambe Bay.
It is reached from the M6 and A601 and B6254
from Kirby Lonsdale. It is well known by
rail enthusiast for its collection of units
in its rail Museum and the appearance in
1945 of Carnforth Station as a film set
in the film ‘Brief Encounter.’
The Lancaster Canal divides Carnforth from
the south to north east and the River Keer
to the north of the town flows west to Morcambe
Bay. The popular Pine Lake Holiday Centre
is situated to the north east alongside
the A6 trunk road. The village of Warton
and the impressive and extensive Warton
Crag Nature Reserve, caravan site and nearby
Warton Sands are situated to the north of
Carnforth. Local places of interest are
The Old Rectory, near Warton, Borwick Hall,
2 miles to the north east, Leighton Hall
and Leighton Moss R.S.P.B. Nature Reserve
3 to 4 miles north of the town. Several
camping and caravan sites are located along
the coast between Carnforth and Hest Bank,
others in rural areas to the west, close
the village of Over Kellet and more close
to Nether Kellet to the south-east of Carnforth.
