Blackpool,
Lancashire
There's
lots to see and do in Lancashire. A hot
air balloon flight may be perfect for a
birthday gift or special celebration.
The
seaside town of Blackpool is situated on
the Fylde Coast between Lytham St Annes
and Cleveleys. The famous Blackpool Tower
can be seen from many miles away especially
from the coastline at Southport (Merseyside)
across the sandy estuary of the River Ribble.
The promenade ‘Golden Mile’
provides a continuous walkway from Blackpool
South, close to its International Airport,
to Blackpool North at Bispham. There are
three piers along the promenade which once
provided sheltered places for relaxation,
dancing and theatrical productions but today
are mainly walkways, amusement arcades and
summer shows. The town has a good selection
of theatres, churches, hospitals, shops,
splendid hotels, guest houses and a zoo
as well as many attractive parks and gardens
to visit. Blackpool’s football stadium
at Bloomfield Road is located within a short
walk from the beach and promenade and easy
access to the A55 motorway. No visitor could
leave Blackpool without a walk along one
of the piers which reach out into the Irish
Sea or listen to the Worlitzer Organ in
the Tower Ballroom The Tower Ballroom is
the venue for Dances and shows throughout
the year. Passengers on flights across the
Irish Sea to local airportscan, dependimg
on the weather, have magnificent views of
the sandy coastline from Fleetwood to the
north of the Fylde to the docklands at Bootle
(Merseyside).
