Rufford, Lancashire

There's lots to see and do in Lancashire. A hot air balloon flight may be perfect for a birthday gift or special celebration.

The village of Rufford is located on either side of the A59 to the north-east of Burscough in the rural west Lancashire Plain (an arable farming area). Rufford Railway Station is on the line from Preston to Ormskirk.

The medieval National Trust Property of ‘Rufford Old Hall’ is situated just off the main road (A59) through Rufford. This is said to have been visited by William Shakespear in his role as actor. The Leeds/Liverpool Canal, Parish Church and Manor House are located to the east of the village. Rufford’s Cricket Ground is close to the residential area to the south-west of the village and the A59. The complex of lakes at Mere Sands Wood Nature Reserve and Mere End are west of the village close to the B5246 Holmes wood Road.

The village of Mawdesley is situated about 5 miles to the south-east of Rufford, beyond Rufford Railway Station and along the B5246 (east) and onto Blackmoor Road.
