Colne,
Lancashire
There's
lots to see and do in Lancashire. A hot
air balloon flight may be perfect for a
birthday gift or special celebration.
The ancient market town of Colne was once
at the heart of the cotton industry and
is still a busy market town in the north-east
of Lancashire. Both The Leeds & Liverpool
Canal and Colne Water pass through the town
and the two Upper and Lower Foulridge Reservoirs
are north of Colne and south of the village
of Foulridge.
To the north west lies Colne Golf Course
and club house reached along the Skipton
Old Road and A6068 (Keighley Rd). Colne
Railway Station is the terminus of the line
to Preston (and branch line from Nelson,
to Manchester). The M65 Motorway eases travel
to Colne from other areas of Lancashire.
To the west of Colne is the extensive area
of Alkincoats Park, a favourite place for
winter sledging.
