town of Leyland is located to the west of
the M6 motorway, south of the M6/M61 junction
and east of the rail link between Preston
and Ormskirk. The north-west mainline railway
from Crew passes through Leyland and there
is a station north of Leyland centre.
Both the Lancashire Cycleway and the River
Lostock pass through Leyland.
To the south-east of Leyland and North of
Runshaw Hall is Worden Country Park. To
the north-west of Leyland and close to Moss
Side, lies Midge Hall and the Vehicle test
centre with the Wymott Open Prison to the
south west. The town has a new 2 storey
Golf Club Building, 18 hole golf course
and practice facilities. The famous ‘Leyland’
Buses and ‘Leyland’ paint are products of
the area.
