Ormskirk,
Lancashire
There's lots to see
and do in Lancashire. A hot air balloon
flight may be perfect for a birthday gift
or special celebration.
Ormskirk
is north-west of Skelmersdale and south-west
of Burscough and is set in the west Lancashire
plain, an area of arable farmland. It has
an outdoor market with numerous stalls placed
along the main streets from the town centre.
There is an impressive Parish church at
the highest point in the town that is distinctive
due to having both a spire and tower !
Ormskirk is reached along the A59 from Preston
to Bootle (Merseyside) and has rail links
from its railway station in the town centre
to both Preston (to the north) and Liverpool
(Merseyside), to the south. Edge Hill College,
to the west of Ormskirk and in its own extensive
grounds, is part of the University of Central
Lancashire. The town’s cricket ground
and pavilion is situated in the south, to
the west of the A570 St. Helens Rd and Ormskirk
Swimming Pool and Coronation Park are located
in the town centre. There are 3 High schools
in the area and many playing fields used
by both schools and local people. The residential
area of Aughton is just to the south of
Ormskirk, immediately north of the county
boundary between Merseyide (south) and Lancashire
(north).
