Fleetwood,
Lancashire
There's
lots to see and do in Lancashire. A hot
air balloon flight may be perfect for a
birthday gift or special celebration.
The seaside and market town of Fleetwood
is across the northern-most point of the
Fylde Peninsular and at the estuary of the
River Wyre. It is reached from the coast
road from Lytham (south) of the peninsular
and passing along the front (“Golden Mile”)
at Blackpool, then Thornton and Cleveleys,
to Fleetwood.
The crescent shaped Euston Hotel close
to the promenade and opposite the Lifeboat
station was once the terminus of the rail
link from London (Euston) to Fleetwood,
and is now the terminus of the tram service
to Blackpool South. Once a busy fishing
port, Fleetwood now handles regular freight
and seasonal passenger services. One of
the three original lighthouses remains and
is close to the Euston Hotel.
Privately owned craft are berthed in the
marina close to the busy Freeport Shopping
Complex. The Marine Hall is close to the
beach and the Grown Green Bowling area.
It is used for sales of antiques and hobby
goods. The promenade follows the golf course
at Rossall Point. Rossall Public School
and its grounds are south of Fleetwood.
